West Branch Fishing Report

Oct 27th, 10:30 A.M. - Area Overview
Air temperature is 31°. High of 39°. Snow and rain predicted today, with predicated accumulation up to 4". We could definitely use it so pray the forecast holds true! Warmer this week, so hopefully we get enough rain to give us some better late season fishing!Beaverkill / Willowemoc Rivers
The Beamoc is very very low. At this point we would suggest to fish the Delaware, preferably the Main Stem as the Reservoir releases are fairly low. We are getting into to the spawning season so fishing may be stressful for fish. The Beaverkill above the Rt 206 Bridge and Willowemoc above the Parkston Bridge are closed to fishing for the season. Bugs are currently Stoneflies (4 - ), Isonychia (8 – 14), Hebes (18-20), Cinnamon Caddis (16), BWOs (18 – 22), Midges (20 – 24)
East Branch of the Delaware River
The Pepacton Reservoir 31.66 feet below the 100% mark and dropping. The release from the dam is 122 cfs. The Upper East Branch (Downville to East Branch) is clear and very cold. As of today, the river above Shinhopple is closed to fishing for the season. Olives are abundant and streamer fishing has been picking up. Best bet is working through a pool covering as much water as you can. The Lower East Branch (East Branch to Hancock) is down since the Downsville release has dropped. Low and cold. Look for fish up on Olives or nymph the heads of riffles.
West Branch of the Delaware River
The Cannonsville Reservoir is currently 53.35 ft below the 100% mark and dropping. The release is down again with a release of 101. Also note, the West Branch above the Border Waters, Monument Pool upstream, are closed for the season. Very low to float but wading is easy as it is low. The release is coming out in the mid 50's so fish are probably more active here. There may be muddy, dirty water up top because of the fall turnover. Bugs are currently Stoneflies (4 - ), Isonychia (8 – 14), Hebes (18-20), Cinnamon Caddis (16), BWOs (18 – 22), Midges (20 – 24)
